Heard you’ll be getting your wings soon;
Didn’t know if it was true;
Guess you’ll be going away;
Earth will no longer be a home for you;
I wonder what people do when their life portal leaves;
Is this the real testament of what adulthood means?
Innately you’ve always been around;
Not consistently the best years but in you, myself I’ve found;
Now we transition, the future yields for us both another mission;
I’ve committed to a cycle of improved measure;
Collected all of our woes, mistakes, and tragedies;
Welded them into our family, upon your exodus they will become manifested treasures;
I believe in your immortality, you’ll live on through me, just not physically;
I’ll think of you often, coveting the smiles your memories will bring;
Every time I see a feather in the air, I’ll know it’s you, spreading your wings.
